The Hot Cakes tin design makes the encaustic paints extremely easy to use.  Simply unscrew the lid, peel off the back label, and place the metal tin full of color onto your hot palette.  With your paints at 150-175 degrees Fahrenheit, your paints will melt.  This is an ideal temperature to maintain the paint's integrity and prevent fumes.  The tin's flat bottom ensures that your paint will melt evenly. Use your hot palette to mix colors and be sure to clean your brush in between color changes to prevent color contamination in your tins.  The tin's safety rim will make cleaning the tin very easy.  When you are finished painting simply allow the paint to cool and then,  replace the lid.  The lid will keep your paint both clean and dust-free during storage.  Stack up your tins and keep your studio organized.  Once you run out of paint in one of your tins, purchase an Enkaustikos' refill color and continue reusing the tin.
