Mud Fairy Pottery
Tonya "Mud Fairy" Fowler holds a Degree in Art Education (2009), with a focus in Ceramics, from the University of North Georgia, in Dahlonega. From 2010 until 2011 , she taught at The Studio Art School in Crested Butte, Colorado. Her pottery has been sold at The Art-Full Barn and other local galleries since she was thirteen; she won her first blue ribbon for pottery design at that age, also. Tonya brings a real love of teaching and making pottery that she happily shares with both kids and adults. She resides in Clarkesville and is married to Jason Fowler, himself a noted artist, illustrator, author and instructor. Tonya and Jason have a beautiful daughter, Phoebe Gail, and a handsome son, Griffin Thomas. "Tonya had me throwing pots from very first day! I was amazed. She's a great teacher – and she's funny!

Tonya gives Pottery Classes!
![]() Tonya Kimsey is offering pottery classes for beginners to advanced on the wheel at The Art-Full Barn. Classes will be limited to five students at a time, so everyone will get lots of attention from the teacher and have use of one of the wheels the entire class time. Classes are available Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; 10:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00, or 3:30-5:30. The fee for six 2-hour classes is $285. Students may come on a pay-as-you go basis for $35 per hour, when there is an open class spot. Class slots can't be saved for pay-as-you go students, so always check to see if there is an open wheel before you come. Students need to have a basic pottery tool set, available at The Art-Full Barn.
Students are required to use only clay purchased from The Art-Full Barn. This is to safeguard the kilns and everyone's pottery in the kilns! Several types of clay are always for sale for $24.99 per 25 pound bag; Tonya's students only may purchase a bag of clay for the special price of $50, which includes firing and glazes. The studio provides a wide choice of glazes, and learning which glazes are appropriate for which clay is part of the class plan. |
Each student will have a storage space at the studio to store tools, work in progress, etc.
If you are not sure that pottery is for you, then take a one-time "try it out" class for $95. You will make some pottery and Tonya will glaze and fire your pieces to pick up at a later date. If you decide you love it and want to sign up for a full session, then that $95 will go toward your six week class fee. These also work well as a "Date Night" for couples, best friends, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and all mixtures of couples who just want to have a great time. Participants may bring food and beverages to enjoy while having fun.
