Tonya Kimsey Fowler/ Mud Fairy Pottery

Picture
Tonya began throwing pottery on the wheel at age 13 under the tutelage of Claudia George. Over the years she honed her skills and began selling her work under the name "Mud Fairy Pottery". She graduated from North Georgia College in 2008 with an Art Education degree. She sells her pottery under the Mud Fairy Pottery logo as well as the Earth Wishes Pottery logo. You can find her pottery throughout the store. She is available for commission pottery as well. Contact Gail Kimsey at 706-754-1247 for Tonya's contact information

Tonya Kimsey is offering pottery classes for beginners to advanced potters on the wheel at The Art-Full Barn. Classes will be limited to four students at a time, so everyone will get lots of attention from the teacher and have use of one of the wheels the entire class time. Classes are available Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; 10:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00, or 3:30-5:30. The fee for a six week session of classes, paid in advance, is $240. Students may come on a pay-as-you go basis for $25 per hour, when there is an open class spot. Class slots will not be saved for pay-as-you go students, so always check to see if there is an open wheel before you come.

Students need to have a basic pottery tool set, available at The Art-Full Barn. Students are required to use only clay purchased from The Art-Full Barn. This is to safeguard the kilns and everyone's pottery in the kilns! Several types of clay are always for sale for $18.99 per 25 pound bag; Tonya's students only may purchase a bag of clay for $46, with that price including firing and glazes. The studio provides a wide choice of glazes, and learning which glazes are appropriate for which clays is part of the class plan.

Each student will have a storage space at the studio to store tools, work in progress, etc.

Tonya graduated from North Georgia College in Dahlonega in the spring of 2009, with a degree in art education, focus in ceramics. She taught in 2010 and 2011 at The Studio Art School in Crested Butte, Colorado. Her pottery has been sold at The Art-Full Barn and other local galleries since she was thirteen, and she won her first blue ribbon for pottery design at that age also. She is excited to be home and hopes to make her living with her pottery production and classes.
