Pottery Lessons from the Mud Fairy at the Art-Full Barn
Pottery Classes
Tonya Kimsey is offering pottery classes for beginners to advanced on the wheel at The Art-Full Barn. Classes will be limited to five students at a time, so everyone will get lots of attention from the teacher and have use of one of the wheels the entire class time. Classes are available Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; 10:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00, or 3:30-5:30. The fee for a six week session of classes is $285. Students may come on a pay-as-you go basis for $35 per hour, when there is an open class spot. Class slots can't be saved for pay-as-you go students, so always check to see if there is an open wheel before you come.
Students need to have a basic pottery tool set, available at The Art-Full Barn. Students are required to use only clay purchased from The Art-Full Barn. This is to safeguard the kilns and everyone's pottery in the kilns! Several types of clay are always for sale for $24.99 per 25 pound bag; Tonya's students only may purchase a bag of clay for special price of $50, which includes firing and glazes. The studio provides a wide choice of glazes, and learning which glazes are appropriate for which clay is part of the class plan.
Each student will have a storage space at the studio to store tools, work in progress, etc.
If you are not sure that pottery is for you, then take a one-time "try it out" class for $95. You will make some pottery and Tonya will glaze and fire your pieces to pick up at a later date. If you decide you love it and want to sign up for a full session, then that $95 will go toward your six week class fee. These also work well as a "Date Night" for couples, best friends, mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and all mixtures of couples who just want to have a great time. Participants may bring food and beverages to enjoy while having fun.
